A multi-instrumentalist and composer, FRANK SILVA grew up playing music in California’s Bay Area starting with piano at age 8 and later taking on saxophone at age 11. Through high school FRANK was a member of the San Francisco Jazz All-Star Jazz Ensemble as well as the Monterey Jazz Festival Next Generation Orchestra. FRANK was awarded the Jimmy Lyons full scholarship in 2005 to attend the Berklee College of Music. After finishing at Berklee in 2009, Frank was accepted to the California Institute of the Arts where he earned his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies in 2012.

Throughout his music career, FRANK has had the opportunity to study and perform with numerous jazz masters including MCCOY TYNER, JIMMY HEATH, JAMES MOODY, STEVE TURRE, JOE LOVANO, HAL CROOKE, JERRY BERGONZI, LARRY KOONSE and JOE LABARBERA.

Currently residing in New York FRANK'S efforts as a composer and improviser range from experimental composition to straight ahead jazz. FRANK'S first record features through-composed melodies and improvisation for two woodwinds, bass and drums. His most current musical offering incorporates the great jazz drummer JOE LABARBERA, Bay Area native and long time friend RICHARD SEARS on piano, and Adelaide, Australia-born ANNA BUTTERSS on bass.
